Summerfest is an eleven day music festival in the heart of Milwaukee's Third Ward at the Meier Summerfest grounds. This year marked their 50th anniversary and with that brought at least 50 new food and beverage items to try from 45 local vendors.

Highest in fiber and lowest in calorie for the volume

Food: Island Slaw by Island Noodles (located by the Ethnic Village) - gluten free Island Coleslaw with teriyaki chicken, crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges, sriracha glaze, topped with Macadamia nut

Beverage: Water- nothing beats the original zero calorie beverage .

Best for Heart Health

(Probably the) Lowest in sodium and saturated fat

Food: Burrata Caprese by Divino (located in the Ethnic Village)- a fresh creamy mozzarella ball served with Roma tomatoes, spring mix, olive oil and balsamic glaze

Best place for Weight Gain

Highest in calories and protein

Food: Bacon Ravioli Completely Noodle-Less Ravioli by Solo (American Family Insurance Amphitheater Forecourt) - 6 slices of bacon hand woven into ravioli filled with ricotta, parmesan, and mozzarella. Served with BBQ ranch dipping sauce.

Just because this meal is #glutenfree doesn't mean that it's healthy. Both bacon and whole milk ricotta cheese are high in saturated fats. A diet that is high in saturated fat is linked to increased heart disease

Food: Water Street Brewery Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich.

panko and pretzel crusted chicken breast, bacon, mesclun greens, Gouda cheese, and honey mustard on a Pretzilla Bun.

Beverage: Lakefront Brewery's El Wisco Beer (Mexican Lager)

Lakefront’s new Summer Seasonal. It’s a light-bodied beer that’s made with pale and honey malt as well as flaked maize. The finish is dry, smooth and thirst quenching.
